Solar Electrix Automation Layer
Our Fronius Energy Management Version (Built for NZ Homes)
Beyond standard inverter settings, we build a custom control layer around Fronius open interfaces so your loads, battery behaviour, EV charging and backup priorities respond to real conditions in your home.
Fronius-Native Control Foundation
We use Fronius Smart Meter plus inverter-integrated energy management to drive surplus-based load control with clear thresholds, minimum run-time logic, and load prioritisation.
- Fronius Smart Meter + GEN24 or SnapINverter pathway
- Digital outputs for relay-triggered load switching
- Modbus TCP/RTU and Solar API (JSON) integration base
Shelly Smart Automation Devices
Where suitable, Shelly relays and energy devices add practical room-level and circuit-level automation so high-load appliances can follow PV surplus rules automatically.
- Smart switching for hot water, pumps, and selected circuits
- Flexible event and schedule triggers
- Great fit for staged retrofits and mixed hardware homes
Node-RED Logic and API Orchestration
For advanced customers, we design and deploy custom software flows and code (including Node-RED) to coordinate Fronius, Victron, Tesla and home automation logic into one responsive energy control strategy.
- Custom software logic for time-of-use, peak shaving, and EV windows
- Cross-platform API flows for Fronius, Victron and Tesla data
- Home-specific control rules tuned for comfort and energy savings
What this gives you in day-to-day operation
1
Surplus First
Selected loads turn on only when the site is genuinely exporting or above your chosen PV surplus threshold.
2
Priority Rules
We set an order of operation so critical loads, comfort loads, and discretionary loads behave in the sequence you prefer.
3
Battery Protection
Reserve levels and run-time logic are tuned to reduce unnecessary cycling while protecting backup availability.
4
Future-Ready Expansion
Your architecture is designed so extra devices, new tariffs, or EV upgrades can be added without rebuilding from scratch.
This is our own implementation approach using Fronius open interfaces and supported third-party automation pathways, including custom software flows and control code for Victron and Fronius systems, engineered per site rather than a one-size-fits-all template.
Every automation scope is commissioned with documented control logic, so you know exactly how load priorities and operating rules are set.
